Wanda Warren PT, L.Ac., Dipl.Ac, MHS
Wanda is the owner and director of Wisdom Traditions Wellness, LLC established in 2005. Wanda is a Dual Licensed Physical Therapist and Acupuncturist in the state of Alaska. Previously in Florida, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine (DOM), but here in AK we are only allowed to use term “Acupuncturist”. There are many DOMs in Alaska called Acupuncturists.
Wanda acquired a Master of Physical Therapy/Adult Education from The Medical University of South Carolina in 1994. Her Master’s Degree focuses on Musculoskeletal Manual Techniques and the BioMechanics of Movement and Posture. Craniosacral Therapy and manual therapies became her love in 1994.
Immediately after graduation Wanda worked with Acute and Rehabilitation patients at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Home Health and Outpatient Rehabilitation centers, specializing in orthopedics and chronic pain. Not completely satisfied with a strictly western approach to medicine, she re-entered academia, this time to master the healing traditions of the East. She continued her work in Hospital settings throughout her Acupuncture studies, honing her skills in integrating the best of East and West Manual Therapies. She studied Traditional Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture from The East West College of Natural Medicine, completing her studies in 1997 and becoming a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine in the state of Florida. She successfully owned, developed and directed an integrative medical center in Sarasota FL starting in 1997. Named after her unique approach; Response Therapies, Inc. provided Acupuncturists, PTs, OTs, MDs, Naturopathic Doctors, Counselors and Massage Therapists all working within a team.
She moved to Alaska in 2004, created another integrative facility focusing on mental health with counselors and recovery professionals, Wisdom Traditions Wellness Center 2005-2018. In 2018 she finished her role in managing the integration of Wisdom Traditions Wellness, LLC and Wisdom Traditions Counseling Services, LLC under the previous location name of Wisdom Traditions Wellness Center. She has now moved Wisdom Traditions Wellness, LLC into a specialized smaller clinic, opening her time to write and build classes.
Wanda now has over 22 years experience integrating Eastern and Western medical professions and paradigms. Wanda has a passion for life-long learning, focusing on the most recent techniques for assisting her patients. Over the years she has pursued the following healing methods: Yoga, Emotional Balance treatments with Acupuncture, Dry Needling, CranioSacral & Somato-Emotional Release, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, Breathing Exercises, Medical Qigong, Mental Health and EFT. All of these methods assist her patients with relief of Chronic Pain Patterns, Orthopedic Injuries, Headaches, Back and Neck pain. Her Acupuncture and Craniosacral techniques have assisted many with anxiety, headaches, depression and fatigue. Throughout her professional journey she has personally studied with such notables as Don Miguel Ruiz, Norm Shealey, MD, Chinese Qigong Doctors and Peruvian Healers. She has traveled and studied in China, South America and Europe.
Wanda’s extensive training paired with her innate aptitude for healing helps her patients achieve favorable outcomes. Some patients report that they have tried everything to alleviate their pain before seeing this Team at Wisdom Traditions Wellness, but it wasn’t until the holistic approach did they finally find relief and often complete recovery from symptoms.
If Wanda is not in the office she is studying, playing with Dolphins on some island, traveling or just gardening in her back yard.
